Books I read: "Who moved my cheese?" and UX UI design
When I read "Who moved my cheese?" by
Spencer Johnson, I did not expect to find so many simple and powerful
lessons about dealing with change.
I realized how this reflects the design process itself — constant adaptation, learning, and moving forward.
Summary of the Book
The story revolves around small characters who live
inside a maze — two mice and two little people the size of mice. They spend their days searching for cheese, which
represents goals, success, and happiness.
One day, all the cheese suddenly disappears, and each character reacts differently:
The mice quickly accept the change and begin to search in new places.
The two little people, however, are afraid and resist change until one of them overcomes his fear and moves on
to explore new paths, while the other remains stuck in the past.
Reflections from "Who Moved My Cheese?"
This book made me reflect on my own creative UX/UI journey.
In design — especially UX/UI — things change constantly: project goals, user needs, and technology updates.
Its similar to the storys characters — some resist change, while others adapt courageously.
Being a UX/UI Designer or Graphic Designer means being like the two mice in the story: curious enough to notice change early and brave enough to adapt fast.
Every project Ive worked on required redesigning features after user feedback, adjusting visuals to new directions, or learning new tools.
One quote from the book that stayed with me is:
"The quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you find new cheese."
